Virgil Donati tonight at the Baked Potato- I guess you need to be in the LA area.
He plays with:
Virgil Donati - drums
Tony McAlpine- guitar
Ric Fierabracci - bass
T. Lavitz - keys
With this line-up, on the last gig a couple weeks ago they played a several Tony Williams' Lifetime tunes, along with some classic fusion stuff. Virgil did play some groove, but went insane also.
9:30 show $10.00 charge

Hey Steve:
I was hoping to meet you at the gig. Virgil's tech guy seemed to know a lot about you when you came up in conversation last time he played the Potato so I thought I'd make a post about it- you've also mentioned meeting Virgil several times on your site. I know this is mainly a Vinnie-Dave site, but Virgil is pretty happinin' if you like a lot of notes and tons of technique.

Yeah, I know Virgils tech. Nice guy.
I've been a Virg fan for years. His Power Drumming video blew me away.
I cant afford to go tonight actually. I just got some new wheels and I gotta skimp by for a while.
Sorry =(

What is it like to see 20 drummers standing outside-nobody knowing each other's name but having a great time rapping about drums?
A Virgil Donati gig at The Baked Potato less a band!
Sorry if any showed up Monday night. The web site said Virg will be playing but the place was closed. 20 of us were pissed, but had a good time hangin' outside for an hour or so.
